It's too hot to doomscroll

...but I keep doing it anyway.

I have stayed indoors during a lot of the heatwave this week because of the smoke from the wildfires at Dovestone reservoir and Tintwistle. The smoke has been spreading over Greater Manchester and even going as far as the Wirral. I am about 20 miles away from where the wildfires are and the smell has been so strong sometimes it's felt like they are much closer than they are. The combination of this along with a very high pollen count has seen me shut myself inside for much of it. I hate very hot weather and I have the worst hayfever at the best of times, so I'm not exactly rushing outside when it gets warm. Funny how when you really want rain it never comes, especially when you live in a place that's known for raining a lot.

That all said, I know I'm fortunate compared to what's happening in Canada and the US right now. Seeing the photos of the skies above places like New York and Toronto filled with smoke caused by wildfires miles away from those cities is almost apocalyptic. I hope that everyone affected by them are staying safe.
